Hi Phil,

For the most part, yes, everything that I wrote about concerning WordPress 2.9 should still work with 3.0. There may be some cosmetic differences, but the functionality is still the same.

As for your second question, no, the book/theme is not theme specific at all. If you already have a theme that you like, there's a 99% chance that it will play well with the WP e-Commerce plugin. You should have no trouble with that.

My best wishes for your new site!

Hi Brian,

I saw your comment on amazon.com in response to a review about your book and decided to contact you directly regarding a question I have concerning your book, Wordpress 2.9 E-Commerce. My wife and I own a small business, and I am in the process of building a website for that business. We are using Wordpress 3.0 on this site.

First question... will the information presented in your book work in Wordpress 3.0?

Next question... does your book address building an E-Commerce site in the context of using a specific Wordpress theme? Or does it teach e-commerce concepts that can be used with any theme? I ask because we are building our website on a theme we really liked and I didn't think I wanted to invest the $40+ for this book if it wouldn't apply to our situation. However, the book description on amazon.com made it sound like the e-commerce functionality is based on a particular e-commerce plug-in, which might be able to be utilized in our current theme.

I have never built a website with e-commerce capabilities, so most of the concepts specific to this topic would be new to me.

Thanks very much!
Phil

Thanks winn! WP e-Commerce is a good choice, though it's by no means the only e-Commerce plugin for WordPress. Though the bulk of the book is on WP e-Commerce, I did dedicate an entire to alternative plugins.

As for whether or not the look of a website has to be driven by its shopping cart, the answer is definitely no. You can make the shopping cart as noticeable or as conspicuous as you want.

Congratulations on your book!
Is the WP e-commerce plugin the top choice for a WordPress e-commerce website? Does the look of a website have to be driven by its shopping cart? A copy of your book is desperately needed so I'd know the answer to these questions. Thank you.

Hi Brian,

Congrats on being a bonafide author. I know I've got a book in me somewhere. Maybe in ten more years when I'm 65.

I was wondering what happened because I just signed up as a new subscriber several months ago. It seemed normal to me because I didn't know what abnormal was.

Good luck in all your tomorrows.
