I would like to give thanks to you for your blog post, it's very informative and valuable. I've had several bad experiences with malware, and it really is really frustrating to deal with. One time My spouse and i needed to re-install Windows xp as a consequence of some basic spyware that we never took proper care of. Another time My spouse and i experienced some voice randomly expressing products to my family regarding some item I earned, it was subsequently extremely annoying. I am about to take a note of your web blog and come back frequently. Thank you again

That was a form of humour. It is quite common and don't really mean they are dumb. The emphasis and point of it is to draw attention to how foolish it was to intall the software, in this case AOL. Many were fooled, even those with some experience, and some installed it more than once. AOL was not the only software that built up this kind of reputation. It became an inside joke. See the context of where the reviewer put that sentence. It is not meant to be taken literally - don't take it seriously. Thank You.

I can see your point in calling AOL a virus but to call anyone who installed it "dumb" is really ignorant and uncalled for on your part.

I use McAfee Security Center (AOL Special Edition) on my main compputer and it has caught any incoming virus immediately. I only have 2 negatives:

1 When my daughter got a virus on her unprotected laptop, I downloaded the McAfee Security Center (AOL Special Edition) and it did not find the virus that was causing her problems after a full scan. I then uninstalled it and installed a trend micro suite and it found and deleted her virus and got her system working again.

2 Most virus programs i've used can be right clicked and disabled when required to install other software. I have not found a way to disable and re enable the mcafee. (it might be there, i just haven't found it)

Other than these two issues, it has worked fine.

Excellent review. Thanks. Now I can remove my brain barriers related to Mcafee and AOL. ;-)
