Good list, but I would MASSIVELY recommend blender over DAZ, and would also tend to elan towards. Aviary(online) or GIMP rather than Paint.NET. Also, i would add Handbrake for conversion/ripping, evernote is AWESOME for organising and backing up notes.
Inkscape is an epic vector editor that is often easier to sue and just as effective as Adobe Illustrator, but free, and I would recommend Picassa to anyone who is into photos
